From Foundation to Future:

The Evolution of the Heitkamp & Thumann Group

In 1978, the acquisition of Gemi Metallwarenfabrik in Marsberg (Germany) marked the beginning of a remarkable corporate journey. The two cousins Prof. Dr. Dr. Engelbert Heitkamp and Jürgen Thumann († 11. August 2022) expanded their entrepreneurial presence in 1979 with the acquisition of Truelove & Maclean in Waterbury (USA). These acquisitions set the foundation for their joint venture: the Heitkamp & Thumann Group.

Over the decades, the H&T Group has grown to encompass over 20 companies through strategic acquisitions and organic growth. In the early 1990s, the company expanded into the Asian market, with locations in China and Singapore. In 1997, the related families Rösler and Marschner joined as shareholders.

The transition from the founders Prof. Dr. Dr. Engelbert Heitkamp and Jürgen Thumann to the next generation took place between 2017 and 2019. Since then, the descendants Engelbert Heitkamp, Angela Lampert, and Olivia Rösler represent the shareholder families on the Advisory Board. The shareholder families share a common vision and think in generations.

After divesting the non-strategic business areas, the H&T Group focuses today on their core business areas by supplying the battery and pharmaceutical industries. These industry segments represent the future of the H&T Group and will be further expanded by focusing on targeted investments and potential acquisitions in the coming years.

The dynamic business development is reflected by a continuous adaptation of the product portfolio. The company’s core competency has always been in the deep-drawing technology, which has been reinforced over the past decades to include the production of high precise metal and plastic components. Through the constant development of their products and processes, the H&T Group has become a global leader in their respective markets.

Since the beginning, the H&T Group has been renowned for its entrepreneurship, innovation, and a willingness to take risks. The shareholder families pursue a long-term vision and focus on the expectations and demands of future generations. We are looking forward to the 50th anniversary of our Group in 2028.

We thank our employees for their commitment and exceptional dedication as well as our business partners for the trust they place in us as we continue to pursue this path together.

Sustainability

We have set ambitious goals to integrate ecological and social responsibility into all our Divisions and Businesses Units.

Our sustainability strategy and goals are based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set out by the United Nations in 2015.

Our main focus will be on four of the UN’s SDGs where we evaluate our potential for positive impact as highest:

Health and Safety

Ensuring the occupational health and safety of employees in all areas of our business.

Circular Economy

Encouraging the increasing use of secondary resources and establishing appropriate end-of-life processes. Closing material loops minimizes the input of resources and the creation of waste.

GHG Emissions

Reducing direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions along the entire value chain. Greenhouse gas emissions like CO2 are major contributors to climate change.

Responsible Sourcing

Sourcing raw materials with reduced environmental and social footprint. Ensuring that all materials sourced respect both social standards and the environment.

Compliance

The Heitkamp & Thumann Group operates globally, adhering strictly to local laws, customs, and ethical norms. Our commitment to compliance is foundational, outlined in our comprehensive Code of Conduct that sets legal and ethical standards worldwide.

We take compliance seriously and encourage employees and stakeholders to report any suspected violations promptly to H&T Compliance through the secure ‘VISPATO’ portal, ensuring anonymity and swift confirmation of receipt within 48 hours. Upholding integrity is fundamental to us; it’s a value we will never compromise.
