H&T Innovation Culture Award 2019: Congratulations to H&T Presspart Blackburn

Managing innovation while delivering performance is a paradoxical process. An organization needs to be stable in its identity and strategy, yet open to constant change:

  • Focused on the things that make it successful in the present market, yet diverse in the areas it explores for opportunities.
  • Conservative, to perpetuate the best practices that exist, yet willing to take controlled risks on new and maybe better topics.
  • Controlling, to ensure that the innovation investment is well used, but trusting enough to allow employees the freedom to create, explore, take risks, and innovate [T.Davila et al., 2013].

The world renowned economist Dr Peter Drucker once said ‘Innovation eats strategy for breakfast’. An innovative company culture is crucial to ensure sustainable and profitable organic growth.

Apart from resources, management processes and innovation KPIs also the people-oriented determinants of an innovation culture such as values, behaviors and company climate are critical enablers for innovation success.

This is why the Heitkamp & Thumann Group evaluates the ‘innovation culture’ of its companies every three years. The results from this group-wide assessment particularly highlighted the good team climate, the efficient team set-up and the smooth cooperation between departments within the Heitkamp & Thumann Group. There was of course room for improvement within the survey results, and this crucial feedback will help the companies of the Heitkamp & Thumann Group to further strengthen their ‘Innovation Culture’.

Christian Diemer, CEO of the Heitkamp & Thumann Group, said:

‘This is a great achievement. Congratulations to H&T Presspart Blackburn for winning the H&T Innovation Culture Award 2019. As we state in the mission of our Group: Innovation will create our future.
At the same time we must not slow down in improving our operations – with H&T Excellence. To do both, creating an innovative company culture and being successful in mature markets is called “organizational ambidexterity”. At H&T Presspart we do both, being innovative plus manufacturing standard products at lowest cost.
